NorCore 10-year anniversary

On 24. June, we gathered stakeholders in Brussels to mark the 10-year anniversary of the NorCore-office. The event included several keynote speakers and panels, all highlighting the value of Norwegian participation in EU programmes.
NorCore was founded in 2016 as a cooperation between the Research Council of Norway, the Directorate for Higher Education and Skills, and Innovation Norway, at the initiative of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. During the last 10 years, the office has served as a hub for Norwegian knowledge stakeholders and has actively worked to strengthen the collaboration between Norway and the EU in the fields of education, research and innovation. Together with the Norwegian Mission to the EU, NorCore has also organised regular meetings with relevant stakeholders in Brussels.
Amongst the speakers at the event marking the 10-year anniversary, was Secretary General of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, Dag Thomas Gisholt. He presented the findings from the new report evaluating the effects of Norway´s participation in the EU Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation. The report was developed by Samfunnsøkonomisk analyse and Technopolis Group.
Extract from the impact evaluation:
"In our assessment, Norway’s association with the Framework Programmes has generated, and may continue to generate, significant benefits that cannot readily be quantified in monetary terms. The value of international cooperation, knowledge exchange and market access is considered particularly important for a small country such as Norway, and is further heightened by the prevailing geopolitical uncertainty. The evaluation concludes that Norway should seek association with FP10.” (Read the full report here).
Also present at the event, were CEOs Mari Sundli Tveit (Research Council of Norway), Håkon Haugli (Innovation Norway) and Sveinung Skule (The Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills).
