Europe and Africa share a long-standing tradition of collaboration in higher education and research. Today, this relationship is evolving—moving beyond traditional capacity-building narratives- toward equitable partnerships centered on scientific and educational cooperation.
This half-day seminar explores the political frameworks shaping Africa-Europe cooperation, from both regional and national perspectives. We’ll examine the policy instruments driving collaboration—such as Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe—and discuss how these tools are being implemented. In the second part of the event, we shift focus to practical examples and success stories. What works in real-world collaborations? What lessons can be learned?
We warmly invite policy makers and stakeholders in research and higher education who are interested in deepening their understanding of and engagement with Africa-Europe cooperation.
Confirmed speakers include representatives from the European Commission, national funding agencies and universities from Europe and Africa. A detailed programme will follow closer to the date.
